Established in 1972, JMC Highland stands as one of the oldest and most respected electrical contractors in the Scottish Highlands. For over five decades, we have been serving communities from Fort William to the North Coast, building a reputation for quality, reliability, and innovation.

Eleven years ago, Mark Ridgeway and Garreth Porteous took over the business following the retirement of founder James Macrae Campbell. Their mission has been clear: to emulate the impeccable reputation established over the decades while bringing fresh energy and modern expertise to the company.

Between them, Mark and Garreth bring over four decades of combined experience in the electrical and renewable energy sectors. They have successfully introduced new technologies as the industry has evolved and expanded our renewable energy capabilities while maintaining the standards of safety and perfection that have always defined JMC Highland.

The recent addition of incoming Managing Director Craig Smith marks a transformative chapter for JMC Highland. Craig brings decades of financial and energy project management experience from the oil and gas operator industry and Private Equity M&A sector. His expertise in Energy projects, M&A & Finance unlocks Power Purchase Agreements for capital-constrained businesses by removing upfront cost barriers, and enables multiple growth strategies for JMC Highland—both organic and by acquisition—enabling greater impact on, and acceleration of the energy transition across Northern Scotland.
